AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Would you please tell us about bipolar mood disorder? Is it curable😬?

There are a number of conditions for which we do not use the word cure, since it would mean that the illness has gone away from its roots. But there are many things that can happen other than the illness and its cure. There are remissions which can last long, very long, during which life can remain as smooth as one can think of. This may happen with or without medication though generally some medication may be needed. Given the present state of imperfection of material existence it is understandable that we need some kind of material molecules to support the healing process especially when it afflicts the body and brain tissues (here the synaptic neurotransmitter systems in the brain), When there is a strong hereditary element and an organic cause underlying then medication is usually needed for longer time. It is much the same with many other diseases such as diabetes and hypertension where one often takes medication for long. Of course this does not mean that medicines cure. True healing always comes with a change of consciousness and if that can happen then nothing more may be needed. Sometimes an illness can become a road towards a new discovery of oneself, the crisis serving to open an inner door which may have remained closed if life was ever the same i its usual unchanging mechanical orbit. So one should always look towards other possibilities. A constant progress towards self discovery, an opening to the Grace with faith is the eventual path for man through which he will one day be freed from everything that right now limits and obstructs his journey. When we have the right attitude then even illness can serve as a means to hasten our evolution.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, there is a professor at IISC who is a sadhaka in the sampradaya of Madhvacharya, and he says that, according to him, the way to find your Swadharma is to do what you can persistently despite failure. I want to ask, is this a good way of practically knowing, or is it too reductionist? And according to you, what can be the best practical way for a young child?🧒📚✨🌱

That is one way of looking at it. But a slightly negative and outer way of looking at it. There are plenty of things we do which do not involve success or failure. We do it because we find a natural joy in it. This spontaneous joy …

Is drinking small quantities of alcohol really that bad? Most people I know consume alcohol in some measure. I noticed that the ones who quit it completely face backlash from Society. For example, I heard business people say that you can’t trust a person who doesn’t drink. 🥂💬🍸🎶[…]

It is not a question of good or bad from a moral point of view. But drinking alcohol is certainly harmful for the physical, as well as psychological and I would even say spiritual health. The list of physical problems is too long and generally too well known to elucidate. …

Yesterday suddenly realised during my prayer with my mother that the seat of the Psychic Being is Highar Vital, in the Hridaya Chakra. Initially, I feel Peace, Bliss and Delight up to the Vishudhi Centre. Suddenly realised that my heart has received The Mother’s Peace and is spreading to all the centre of my all the inner parts and similar to the mother light also. Suddenly feel that the heart centre is doing everything. Alok da, is our Sadhana going in the right direction? Please guide me. 🪷✨💖🕯️

Yes absolutely, the psychic being is behind the heart centre and when open and in the front then all becomes easy and natural.
Your prayer is a beautiful psychic prayer and the yoga going in the right direction.
