AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Do we already have a “self” that we have to discover or do we have to embark upon fashioning a “self” which is a result of a long endeavour? Self discovery or self creation🤔?

There are two selves in us. One is the immortal self that evolves from life to life. This has to be first discovered as through it we can discover our origin, the eternal unchanging Self that is the Source of everything and hence the universal Self.

There is however a temporary self, the ego-self that is the construct of Nature. It is like the outer scaffolding to build our outer individuality behind which the real house, that is to say the true individual is being built.

Both have to be discovered as well as developed. The true self is our spiritual being, the basis of our evolution across lives. It carries the seeds of our labour, our deeds in one lifetime for fruition in other lives that are yet to come. The ego-self is only a contrivance of Nature for this life, an instrument of the true self to receive from and respond to the world. It is like a temporary dress worn by the true self for outer purposes. It can be modified to make our life meaningful and purposeful and organise our personality and prioritise our goals.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, there is a professor at IISC who is a sadhaka in the sampradaya of Madhvacharya, and he says that, according to him, the way to find your Swadharma is to do what you can persistently despite failure. That is one way of looking at it. But a slightly negative and outer way of looking at it. There are plenty of things we do which do not involve success or failure. We do it because we find a natural joy in it. This spontaneous joy …

Is drinking small quantities of alcohol really that bad? Most people I know consume alcohol in some measure. I noticed that the ones who quit it completely face backlash from Society. For example, I heard business people say that you can’t trust a person who doesn’t drink. 🥂💬🍸🎶[…]

It is not a question of good or bad from a moral point of view. But drinking alcohol is certainly harmful for the physical, as well as psychological and I would even say spiritual health. The list of physical problems is too long and generally too well known to elucidate. …

Yesterday suddenly realised during my prayer with my mother that the seat of the Psychic Being is Highar Vital, in the Hridaya Chakra. Initially, I feel Peace, Bliss and Delight up to the Vishudhi Centre. Suddenly realised that my heart has received The Mother’s Peace and is spreading to all the centre of my all the inner parts and similar to the mother light also. Suddenly feel that the heart centre is doing everything. Alok da, is our Sadhana going in the right direction? Please guide me. 🪷✨💖🕯️

Yes absolutely, the psychic being is behind the heart centre and when open and in the front then all becomes easy and natural.
Your prayer is a beautiful psychic prayer and the yoga going in the right direction.
