AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My sister has recently been admitted to a medical college, but she is always unable to control her emotions. She has been sent to hostels twice earlier and she came back both times to home. Again she is caught in the same situation, crying over phone very much and not able to listen to any advice.πŸ˜₯[…]

I tried to guide her for meditation, she did it for 15 mins, but again started crying. Her mind just makes excuses like I can’t remain without mom and dad, I am uncomfortable with accommodating strangers, etc., and just not able to modify her habits. Do you have any solutions or guidelines that I can follow to help her control her emotions? I am ready to put in as much effort as I can from my side. Thanks.Β

Meditation may be difficult for her in this unstable state. She should get busy with the studies and do some deep breathing as well as physical exercises to strengthen her vital parts.

I am sure you would have tried to explain to her as to how by bearing with this initial inconvenience the family as well as herself will reap long term gains. Usually most people will adjust within 3 to 6 months. If still she is finding it difficult, I would advice that she sees a counsellor and possibilities of her staying with someone from the family can be explored.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
