AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Dear Alok da, would you help explaining the below Aphorisms please? What is the ‘temptation’ meant here? God guides best when He tempts worst, loves entirely when He punishes cruelly, helps perfectly when violently He opposes.🍏🐍🍫🧲

243. If God did not take upon Himself the burden of tempting men, the world would very soon go to perdition.

244. Suffer yourself to be tempted within so that you may exhaust in the struggle your downward propensities.

The temptations are the tendencies that pull us back, downwards, such as greed for money, lust for power, ambition, attachment, sex, fear etc. Behind them all is the play of ego and desire. These are all hidden in man and do not go away simply by closing our eyes or running away from the ocassions where one may be tempted. And until they are conquered completely the soul will never be fully free. Hence God uses the strategy of Himself tempting the seeker by bringing him face to face with these tendencies and thereby exhausting them by learning through the painful  consequences. He becomes the one who tempts, the one who gives us the fruits or the consequence of our desires. He seems to challenge and oppose our aspiration as a loving father would yet defeat his child several times by playing against him. The child cries each time he falls but the father stretches his hand to lift him up and rejoices to see him get up every time. The level of the opposition increases so that the strength and wisdom grows. It is all His Play, His ways of teaching and training us. We may find it cruel and feel miserable when we were misled by the temptation and fell. But behind it all there is His Love. He becomes the tempter as well the opponent denying us our desires.

These downward tendencies need to be exhausted either subjectively by observing, recognising and rejecting them, or objectively by going through the experience and learn by the painful consequences.

In the ultimate analysis all is His Play, His Love, His Grace.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

You wrote that the beings residing in Sri Krishna’s abode would wish to be here in order to enrich themselves. I would like to understand whether this means that the souls presently residing in Sri Krishna’s eternal abode would be able to come to the divine world that will manifest on Earth in the future. 🦚🌍

The beings in higher worlds as for example Goloka are not necessarily souls. The soul is a portion of the Divine that enters the earth and goes through the evolutionary process and return to the Divine, either to rest permanently in Him annulling itself completely or else to be part of the higher worlds as for example Devrishi …

I’m curious to know about your views on spirituality becoming so widespread in today’s world. We see spiritual figures having millions of followers on YouTube and other social media platforms. To me, it looks like a business and not spirituality. 🌱🧭[…]

Spiritual evolution has been going on since some time now. Its eventual purpose is to evolve humanity beyond the vital-mental man he now is to the spiritual and eventually the divine superhumanity of the future. Until now this spiritual evolution was confined to a few prominent personalities who tried to communicate it to the followers who almost invariably reduced it to a Religion with mental rules and regulations. Nevertheless mankind …

A strange dream just before I woke up this morning: I saw that I was consoling my father, hugging him about a situation where he was soon going to die, and at that time I felt a sensation of a very big snake passing by as if its body touched me; I also heard its hissing sound and saw its big tail end. 🐍💭[…]

This seems to be a premonitory dream and the snake seems to be ‘Kaalsarp’ (Time-snake) that chases us. We can either heed to its warning and evolve swiftly or else get paralysed with fear. So it seems that your father (and you too by default) has entered this phase of either an evolutionary leap or else a succumbing down to the evolutionary pressure and the challenges…
