AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

When life feels heavy like everything is crumbling and when one is utterly helpless and cannot support a loved one. And of course, these life situations have weeded out family and friends showing the painful reality of relationships. How is one supposed to have faith and work towards the new creation? Like at times like these, all the emotions go towards finding solutions. And all the enthusiasm and positive emotions towards serving the Mother and Sri Aurobindo just vanish-it is like one could care less about the future and new creation because the present is so challenging and has been so for a very long time! It just feels very very hard. How to direct these painful emotions?πŸ§— πŸš§β›ˆοΈβ›“οΈπŸ₯Ή

These and other challenges are part of the journey of life. Leave the New Creation aside for a moment and see if there is any life that passes unwounded unscathed upon earth. These challenges are part of the evolutionary process, in fact almost the law or price of our evolution. None is spared, not even the Avatars and the Yogis. In fact the greater we aim and aspire for, the greater will be the challenge before us. We can question, doubt, complaint or else we can tighten our loin cloth, pick up the staff and face the difficulty. Blaming God doesn’t help either. Here again we can either blame the Divine or else surrender to His Will with faith that He knows best and will take us through everything.

As to New Creation the challenge is even greater. After all the world will trouble us only as long as we value what it has to offer. But a time comes when one can see through the facade as you are seeing in your relationships. Of course most relationships are transactional and based on give and take for such is the nature of present earthly life. We can feel bad about it or else try to explore new possibilities, one of which is the New Creation and work for earth’s future if one is called towards that.

Surely immediate solutions are needed for certain aspects of life that are urgent such as for example basic sustenance. But we must understand that not every problem has a clear or perfect solution at our present human level. We have our rights only limited to the field within us and the action we do in the present moment. We cannot determine the future or change the people around us. So either which way we consider the onus falls back upon us to change ourselves, aligning ourselves to some higher goal or else continue with the same old way of life which is limited on every side and full of meaningless struggles and various kinds of suffering, often inessential suffering because the mind places a wrong value on things. We give too much importance to things that in reality have much less importance while giving too little importance to things that truly matter. It is a question of perspective. If we remain attached to transient things our sufferings get much amplified. But if we sincerely seek the Eternal, the Permanent, the Divine then not only the suffering but even the proclivity to suffer begins to diminish and fall away with the falling quiet of the hyperactive mind and the restless desire self in us.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Jay Maa, I have been reading Savitri for last few years, recently I heard that people also write passages from Savitri daily as a part of their Sadhana. Can you please explain about how it has different effect than reading Savitri?πŸ“œπŸ€πŸ•ŠοΈβ˜€οΈ
