AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sometimes, when I work as an Offering to the Divine, I expect nothing from it. But I feel that I do it with the motivation that when I work for the Divine, I will be purified and spiritually Progress. Is this a good motivation to have, or that becomes a desire too? πŸ«΄πŸΌπŸŒΌπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸΌπŸŒ·

It is not a desire but a perfectly valid aspiration. Desire springs from the vital and its purpose is aggrandisement or pleasure, or an increase in quantity. Aspiration is for an improvement of quality in our instrumental nature, for its progress and betterment for the Divine Work, even for outer things, so that we may use them in the service of the Divine or for increasing our closeness to the Divine. In essence, desire is directed towards the ego, for the ego-satisfactions, while aspiration is directed towards the Divine and seeks the Divine fulfilment in oneself and others.Β

Affectionately,

Alok Da
