No, it is not about spiritual pulls but the different parts with its own demands. It takes a long time, sometimes very long, for these parts to get attuned to the central aspiration and the Divine Will. These are the various demands and desires, mainly of the lower vital nature, or doubts and disenchantments, etc.
The spiritual pulls are of a different kind. It may manifest in the mind as an attraction towards other philosophies and schools of thought that one finds answering one’s doubts and seeking better. Or it can be the pull of the vital towards certain experiences and miracles and other such rewards and promises. Or it can be the pull of the heart and emotions charmed by certain personalities. Or, very simply, the comfort one finds in certain familiar physical atmospheres. These pulls can come in the way of the soul’s journey and core aspiration until the surrender has been complete.
