AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

But the Western way of numbing Emotions is not Detachment, right – that’s just escape, right? How important is the whole Sanatana Culture and way of life? Did Sri Aurobindo encourage it? 🤔🥀🌄

Benumbing emotions is not detachment. It is simply to exhaust a possibility rather than use it rightly. Besides, emotions are not vital attractions and passions which are commonly mistaken for emotions. Passions are closer to the animal kind. There is a sudden, sometimes an overwhelming intensity to possess the object. The western world has indeed benumbed the emotions largely due to the mixed play of ambition and passion. Emotions are something deeper, less stormy, intrinsically sweet and carry within them the urge to give rather than have and possess. Emotions draw their deeper sustenance from the soul within, whereas passions are like intense and strong currents of life that are capable of drowning us at the rock bottom. If mastered, they can become a source of power in all we do, like tending the energy of fire. But if they overpower us, then one well may drown under its tidal surge.

Sanatana Dharma is a vast subject. You will find a series of talks on auromaa on this. It is the future religion of mankind, even as it is the original religion of mankind. It takes into account and respects the entire diversity of mankind and shows the way to arrive at the fundamental unity in diversity, to each according to their unique individuality. It is the path of synthesis, integration of the diverse strands and activities of human nature, and the completest possible fulfilment of mankind.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It is not just a dream but a real experience. The empty room without furniture and a melancholic atmosphere is the mind and the child who entered there bringing fearlessness and joy is your psychic being who is absorbed in the play oblivious of everything else. You did good to call him again. The child comes naturally where its parents are who provide it the nourishment it needs. That nourishment for the soul is all that brings it the spiritual food, …

Generally it is the part that is most ready and turns towards the Divine takes the lead of the Sadhana. It may be the illumined mind in one person, or the deeper heart in another person, or the dynamic will in those who are oriented towards work and service.
