AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

After I wrote to you, since then Mother has taken away the sting and bitterness and recoil I was feeling every time I thought about the incident. I will try to do what you say, but I feel ill-equipped to teach her these values of resilience and detachment when I struggle so much with them. It’s like the blind leading the blind. ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป […]

Two things have been happening more since the last few months:

1. Every night and morning (just when I start to wake up), I feel a deep longing for Mother and Sri Aurobindo and sadness that I cannot be with Them… I call them intensely just when I am about to wake up. This is especially true when I have a tough day at work and I am dreading or fearing something. I call them fervently. I see myself in my mind’s eye crouched at Mother’s feet, holding Her Knees and burying my face in her lap (She is seated in a chair). I feel sad… when will I get to Her and find my psychic being (given my current state). This brings me to the next point.

2. I struggle with vanity… this feeling that I am better than others, while the very opposite also I feel often. I flip-flop often. Not that I am useless, but I am not enough and don’t get it right…everyone else gets it, but I don’t. Separately, I am increasingly seeing, for the last few weeks, flaws in me quite obviously. I acknowledge them, try to show them to the Mother and ask Her to take everything away that stands between Her and me. But it also makes me realise how far I am from being ready to meet Her, especially because these days I also feel more lost than ever. What am I doing and where is all this going?

This is just the right way, to recognise what needs to change and then offer them to Her with the aspiration for the needed change, especially the urge to draw closer and closer to Her. The rest will follow inevitably. She has surely accepted your surrender. Whatever else is needed will be done. Keep yourself open to Her with the right attitude and all else will be done.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Truly, it gives emotional satisfaction, at least for now, that heart and nature can indeed be purified. I’ve been reading and understanding Mother and Gurudev’s words… especially that total change of consciousness, complete reversal of consciousness and a radical change of nature are the issue. ๐ŸŒบ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป[…]

Turn whole-heartedly to the Divine Mother, hand over yourself and all your difficulties to Her. Call Her Name as often as you can. Read Savitri everyday and write prayers to Her. Even if you can do none of these, simply call Her …

The idea of โ€‹โ€‹dedicating every event and thought in our lives to the Divine is truly noble; it has deeply resonated with me. In fact, our scriptures and authoritative texts clearly articulate this very principle. However, I am unsure about what I should learn or how I should begin. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป[…]

The idea of living for the Divine, becoming an instrument of the Divine, must change into a living aspiration for the Divine. It is aspiration, the intense seeking in the heart which converts the idea and mental seeking into a real and a living force of realising it.ย

Iย have always had a low level of attachment to my physical existence. I “float” and experience most physical phenomena in a supervisory/vicarious way unless I am very intentionally grounding myself. Is there a name/word for this? ๐Ÿง˜๐ŸŒฟ[…]

Dissociative episode is simply a term that explains nothing. There are other terms that equally do not help us. Some people simply have a poor connection with the physical body because the bridges and the subtle links between their subtle body and the physical is not completely built. Hence they are sometimes susceptible to ..
