AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

For quite some time now, whether I am awake, moving about, or simply sitting, I have been seeing visions—such as symbols of animals or the sun. I neither consciously think of them nor deliberately visualize them; they appear on their own, sometimes clearly and at other times faintly. 🔥🕊️☀️[…]

For instance, I see a burning fire beneath my physical heart. I see a lovely little dog deep within the solar plexus. Sometimes a horse appears. At times, I see a cow and her calf. Sometimes, I see a small baby pigeon perched atop a pigeon. At other times, it feels as though the sun has risen—creating a very pleasant atmosphere—and then a creeper vine appears.

These seem to be true visions, possibly due to an inborn faculty in you which has continued from previous life.

Fire in the heart is the image of the Divine Presence holding the psychic being within it. Dog is faithfulness (towards the Divine).

Horse is force, Cow represents Light, Pigeon is a symbol of Peace. Sunrise indicates new possibilities waiting to emerge.

All this further confirms that you are meant to lead a true spiritual life and these forces and powers and this higher destiny is drawing near you. It is now upto you to take the lead and move in the direction of your true spiritual destiny.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The Bhagawat Purana is written by a Rishi no less than the calibre of Vyasa. The entire Purana is profound in its depth, spiritual and occult understanding. To take it literally is to rob it of its real sense. The gopa and gopis are the divine souls who came down with Sri Krishna to open the path of bhakti, of utter abandonment and surrender to the Divine for man to follow…

I am wondering if you have anything to say on the order of practice. And in the relation to quite detailed descriptions of processes, with a certain order and division, we may see this in Sri Aurobindo’s writing on the Sapta Chatusthaya, and in the Mother’s sometimes very simple quotes on simply remaining open to her. 📖🙏🏻[…]

The Saptachatustya described in the Records of Yoga is the program given to Sri Aurobindo as part of his personal sadhana.

Its general version applicable for every sadhaka has been described in The Synthesis of Yoga in the book on the yoga of self-perfection…

I understand that we should live in the present moment and remain open to the Divine Will. However, I find it difficult because I do not really enjoy the work I am presently doing. How can I remain peaceful, sincere, and open to the Divine while being fully present in a work that I do not enjoy? 🌱🙏🏻

The Gita gives us the complete answer to this problem.

First thing is to take up an activity that is in line with your swabhava, your innate temperament. If one does not know that then one should study oneself, one’s interests, tendencies, natural qualities and capacities and try to see how they can be best put to use in the work you are doing…
