AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I had a dream recently where I was in the mountains (where I have been, in Almora, for a 3 months) and a big flood came. There was a lot of panic and noise, etc. I was with my brother and we managed to escape, and we struggled through find my parents in a house, where there was a reunion, and a deep sense of anguish and also relief and all four of us embracing. 🌊💭[..]

I awoke after with a feeling that something inside was working and some feelings got resolved – I felt lighter but also a sense of poignancy. The dream has been with me for a few days, and I keep wondering if there’s some meaning to it, or how one could see this?

Dreams of flood, as in the one you describe, indicate a massive inner (and oftentimes even outer) change. It suggests a sudden transformative process in which much of the old is being washed away, leaving you with only those elements from the past, or rather the old consciousness, that are yet needed for the future. Since you saw a kind of family reunion, it also indicates a return to certain elements from the past that have to be picked up and reintegrated with your life on a new basis before you move again towards the future. Yes, it might be intimidating, but actually it is a rapid change that is indicated, which is eventually helpful once certain things are cleared up and removed.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

After all there are so many things, so many factors we cannot control, so many unseen forces we cannot fathom. The only way is to have faith that all will be well….

The Mother describes how to develop and cultivate these different elements, – physical, vital, mental, psychic and spiritual. The physical does not develop only through exercise and food but also sleep and work. So too the mind does not develop only through reading and concentration. In the verse “Mana krama bachana chhadi chaturai, bhajata kripa karihahin Raghurai,” Goswami Tulsidas appears to set two essential prerequisites for receiving Sri Rama’s grace: completely surrendering the cleverness (chaturai) of mind, speech, and action, and actively engaging in bhajan.🙏🏻🎶 […]

Chaturai or cleverness means trying to act smart with God as if one can fool or trick Him in your favor. Bhajan literally means to take joy in God, in His Name and exploits.
