AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

When you mention that my life awaits a firm decision and an inner shift, what does that transition look like in daily practice? While I am in this period of waiting and cultivating desirelessness, how do I actively cooperate with the Divine Grace without falling into passivity or inertia? ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

These things, such as what job one should be applied for, etc are a kind of subliminal intuition that do not necessarily come from the Divine. These things belong to the cosmic Manager Mind. Of course, it might be the higher mind or even some touch of the intuitive mind, but the Divine Guidance is something else. It is mainly, first and foremost with regard to our inner spiritual progress, towards inner freedom and eventually the transformation.ย

In simple words, we have to first complete the schooling of Nature, pass through the doors of success and failure, aspire and surrender to the Divine before we are truly ready to take up the work we are meant to do. It is only when a state of desirelessness and equanimity begins to settle, when one has truly surrendered oneself to the Divine Will, that a truer inner guidance can emerge in terms of the work we are here to do.

Until then, the purpose of the Guidance is to take us through all the different kinds of experiences needed for us to grow Godwards. The Divine Grace does not necessarily act to make our life easier and comfortable but to help us progress us towards our true goal, the Divine, through the route that is best for us. We can see how the Grace took Sri Aurobindo almost near the jaws of death before the radical inner and outer shift. I feel your life awaits this firm decision and inner shift, whose sign is a complete inner clarity about the aim of one’s life and the true aspiration. Until then, take all experiences as learning lessons to help us grow. It is only when Aspiration is born, which is different from desire, wish and ambition, that the spiritual life truly begins and with it, the true Guidance.ย

Affectionately,

Alok Da

ย I still get emotional and start crying when so ever thoughts of my parents come to my mind. I know and understand that they are with Mother now and that this is not the end for them, but it still takes me some time to calm myself every time. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’›[…]

Though our parents leave us outwardly, they are always with us in an inner sense. How can one free oneself from the attachment to work and yet have the confidence and certitude that whatever one is one is called for will come true someday? As one often keeps generating so-called (mental) ideasโ€ฆ but many ร  times they land nowhere. ๐Ÿคฒโš–๏ธ

Attachment to works is because of the results we want or expect from it. The result may be gross such as money or subtle such as recognition. Either ways it binds and deflects us from the true purpose of works which is, first, to grow and evolve towards the Divine. Secondly, when one has grown into the Divine then its purpose is to fulfil the Divine Will upon earth. Individually it means becoming a channel and instrument of the Divine….
