AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Can the ego be converted? If so, how? Psychic individuality is the need. Even if the ego is converted, will it allow the Psychic to come forward and take over ? I was told i am ruled by my ego. Its been difficult for me to understand and also find my true identity amidst various identities within, without any concrete individuality. ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Conversion of the ego means that instead of turning towards the satisfaction of desires and being at the mercy of every stroke of nature it should cultivate discernment and turn towards the Divine, live for the Divine and His Service. This turning of the ego-self and all its apparatus towards the Divine with an aspiration for the Divine is the way towards the emergence of the psychic being. When the psychic being comes out the ego becomes quiet and surrendered to the Mother, until it is ready to be dropped off. Of course the ego, if too deeply entrenched in Rajas may not surrender to the Divine easily but one day it will do so as the aspiration grows and brings us closer and closer to the Divine.

It is a process and takes time. The amount of time taken will depend upon the sincerity of the person.

Affectionately

Alok Da

Yes, I understand. What I have understood as the essence and crux of this yoga is opening and surrender to The Mother. The whole secret and safety lies in this central secret of the integral Yoga as Sri Aurobindo put it. Here are few passages that reveal to us the core of the integral yoga.

This is a kind of identification that takes place to someone in a state of intense yogic union with the Master especially through the path of love and bhakti.
