AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

As I was listening to one of your talks about Krishna, you mentioned that surrendering all your actions inwardly to God, while doing the actions as usual, will give you inner freedom. 😊🙏🏻🌼[…]

And you were explaining about Sri Aurobindo’s yoga, which I did not understand, where the outer action needs to be modified. Can you explain what exactly it means to change our actions as well?

Yes, Sri Krishna spoke of liberation through action. Before his advent, action was regarded as bondage and meditation and worship were the only means to liberation. But what kind of action? Sri Krishna said any action, sarvakarmani, done with the right inner attitude of consecration to the Divine would serve as a door to liberation. Sri Aurobindo would say, the inner state and inner liberation should be the beginning of a God-given action, an action done for the fulfilment of the Divine Will in us and in the world. Then, as we open more and more to the Divine Will in works, surrendering ourselves to the Divine Mother, the Mother starts modifying and transforming the instruments of nature, something which the Gita does not speak of. Inner liberation is not enough. The outer action should be impelled only by the Divine Will and executed perfectly through perfected and transformed instruments.

Affectionately
