There have been plenty of persons who have done their thesis on Sri Aurobindo. So I suppose methodology has already been used for Sri Aurobindo’s writings. However, it is true that Sri Aurobindo’s writings are spread through a vast panorama of literature. It is very easy to tilt in a one-sided way and miss other aspects on the same subject written by Sri Aurobindo himself. For example, Sri Aurobindo did not see Nationalism only as a force to defend the country against foreign aggression but primarily as a means to express the Divine Truth in a unique way through the soul of a nation. He spoke of the National Soul and saw her as a goddess, a living mother. His Internationalism and Universalism do not cancel or override Nationalism but enrich it. Besides, the basis of both Nationalism and Universalism is the Divine expressing Himself through both as well as through the individual in a unique way. He has written about all this in great detail in the human cycle.ย
One small observation too. The full name is Sri Aurobindo. Sri is not an honorific or respectful addition.ย
These are my immediate observations. The rest is of course upto you. I am not sure if I will have more time to go through the thesis. My prayers are with you for success in the efforts.
Affectionately,ย
Alok Da
