AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I am facing intense turmoil in my marriage due to my spouse’s chronic anger, alcohol struggles, and verbal and physical abuse, which have severely strained our home and my inner peace. Despite my sincere efforts to hold the family together for our children, the hostility and control have only escalated, leaving me anxious and exhausted. 🙏🏻🌷 […]

My refuge has always been the Mother’s grace, but I find myself caught between fear, emotional attachment, and the impulse to react when provoked. How do I practice true surrender and inner detachment in the face of such continuous hostility? Should I view these trials as reflections of my own inner fears, and how do I find the strength and courage to protect my well-being while walking the Mother’s path?

The only proper feasible option before you is to progressively detach yourself inwardly from your husband while outwardly doing your duties with the changed spirit of service of the Divine Mother. When the children grow up enough, you can carve out your independent life. In any case, it is idle to expect that your husband will change unless there is an unprecedented miracle. The less you interact with him, the better it is.

Most important is that you must now fix your higher goal and walk towards it with firm resolve. What happened in the past had to happen. It is useless to blame oneself. One can even look at it as a process of purification, a learning experience through which you had to pass. There is no need to prolong it now. Its purpose is over. You have learned your lessons. Better to move towards the future which is with the Divine Mother.

With prayers and the Mother’s Love

Marraige is like a double edged sword. If the partner is right it can help create stability. If the partner is not the right one it can lead to chronic unhappiness, conflicts and instability. This is especially true of our times when the real stabilising factor, the family, is broken.

In the First Rik of the Rig Veda, Sri Aurobindo describes the nature of the Supreme as Sat-Chit-Ananda across different states of being. While explaining Nirguna and Saguna Sat, he uses phrases like “they nivṛtta, He nivṛtta” and “they pravṛtta, He nivṛtta”, which I find difficult to grasp. ☀️🕉️[…]

The Lord is both pravritti and nivratti, as the Fire and the Sun are both pravritti and nivratti. As Light they simply stand back and illumine the field but as energy they impel all things into dynamic movement. So too, the Divine as knowledge illumines all things with His Intelligence even without entering into them. But as power, Shakti, He

Are Self-respect and Ego the same? 🪞🙏🏻

Self respect is one of the forms of the ego. It could be a sattwic or a rajo-sattwic ego but an ego reaction nonetheless. The soul never feels insulted or has any need to defend its respect. One who lives for the Divine is not affected by human opinions. The only thing that matters is closeness to the Divine. The insults and opinions …
