It is not just about imperfection but whether we are moving out of ignorance towards knowledge or getting more and more stuck in it. It is not about family or this or that place or work. It is the originating impulse or motive or the idea-force. Everything is imperfect, but it is the direction in which we are moving and wish to take them forward.

Tapas leads to an increase of energy. Faith in the Divine increases its potency whereas doubt and a sceptic questioning does decrease it. But there can be a questioning that seeks to understand and know better. Such a questioning may well consolidate the tapas more by giving it clarity of the mind.
To quieten the mind and vital one should learn to live within rather than projected on the surfaces of life, reacting and responding to every stimulus. We should try to practice equanimity in the face of the touches of nature such as heat or cold, remarks of people such as praise or insult, gains and losses, success and failures, pleasure and pain. This is the foundation.
