There are three terms we need to understand,- courage, prudence, rashness. Courage is a movement of the soul. Here, the individual is deeply moved to act against what is perceived as falsehood, either within oneself or in the world or society at large. Its basis is truth. For example, it requires a great courage to see one’s mistakes, or to stand up and speak up about what is true and beautiful regardless of consequences.
Prudence is the application of reason to courage. It is a quality of the mind that provides care and caution for optimising the results.
Rashness is an unthinking impulse, generally springing from the lower vital. There is neither any perception of truth nor any rational understanding behind it. It is an impulsive act, more like an animal driven by rage.
