AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Alok da, can you please suggest which books on Ramayana and Mahabharata one should read, as there are many versions? πŸ“™πŸΉπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

For the Ramayana, my personal fascination is with Ramacharitmanas by Tulsidas, if one can connect with the language. For the Mahabharata, the standard volumes by Rishi Vedavyas published by Gita Press, Gorakhpur, are very good. There is an excellent series of books on Krishnavatar by K M Munshi, which are very beautiful. Unfortunately, it remained incomplete and could not be expanded beyond 7 volumes. I believe some new authors like Ami Ganatra have done a very good work. I haven’t read them, but her interview seemed interesting and portrays someone with an authentic knowledge.Β

Affectionately,

Alok Da
