AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Firstly, I would like to share how I started watching your videos and became aware of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. In my life, I’ve been deeply connected to Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya of Shantikunj, Gayatri Pariwar. In one of the books, I read that his Guru from the Himalayas (who is said to be more than 1,000 years old) specifically asked him to meet the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. He did come to Pondicherry to meet them, but what was discussed between them remains unknown. That’s how I came to know about them and started watching your videos. I have also visited Auroville and the Samadhi. I genuinely felt at home when I was there and look forward to visiting again.

My first question is: are you aware of any such meeting between them? And are you familiar with Shantikunj and the Gayatri Pariwar? The work being done there is also centered around the change of era (Yug Nirman) and the advent of new consciousness (Supramental/Atimanas). Is it the same goal?

I have heard about Pundit Sri Ram Sharma Acharya through some of his disciples as well reading of some books including the magazine Akhand Jyoti during my exploratory stages in the Medical College days. I was also told later by some disciples that he had come here, but there is no documented account of their meeting. Sri Aurobindo was hardly meeting anyone after the 24th November 1926. So if he met it would have been an exception and couldn’t have gone unnoticed.

His path, as i have understood is to create ‘deva manav’, which is a kind of higher godlike humanity. Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga aspires for a ‘divya manav’, a divine superhumanity.

As to the new age of Truth has been foreseen by quite a few yogis, each bringing his own meaning into it, each contributing his own bit. But there is a fundamental difference between these efforts that help man open to the higher Mind and the supramental consciousness which completely transcends the Mind. The former is the domain of the different gods, the latter is the Home of Truth, of the One Divine in His supramental poise of Unity in Diversity. You will find more details on the subject on Auromaa.

My second question is a bit funny, but genuine. Whenever I listen to you, I feel like I’m listening to my mother — as if I receive motherly vibes from you. One day, I even had a funny dream in which I came to your house. You were cooking food, and your lifestyle was very simple yet incredibly peaceful. It was a very serene dream, and I wonder what it could possibly signify.

It is because of Her Grace and Love that surrounds me and hence something of the Divine Mother’s Love is felt by many.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
