AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

After a lifetime of chasing ambitious goals, I have begun surrendering my ego and ambitions to the Mother, praying earnestly for Her will to guide me. Recently, a sudden calm and stillness have replaced my old rajasic drive, erasing my usual career ambitions. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ[…]

While this quiet state brings peace, I worry that without my former motivations, I might slip into inertia or tamas. How do I navigate this transition, discover my divine purpose, and work purely as an instrument of Her will?

It is clearly a sign of the working of Her Grace that has not only shown you the absurdity of being driven by ambition and desires but much more so, given you a touch and the foretaste of the higher consciousness. Nurture it and nourish it by persistent aspiration for becoming Her instrument. Do not shut the newly opened door through doubt.ย

Tamas is a state of dullness, a state of boredom where the mind gets impelled to do all kinds of foolish things to get some pleasure. Calm is the sign of victory of the soul over nature and circumstances. Let the calm deepen and integrate it with the work you are doing. Remember the Mother and offer all you do to Her so that the works become no more a means of transient egoistic satisfactions but of deepening the bond with the Divine. This is the key for all the rest to follow.

Affectionately,ย

Alok da

ย I still get emotional and start crying when so ever thoughts of my parents come to my mind. I know and understand that they are with Mother now and that this is not the end for them, but it still takes me some time to calm myself every time. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’›[…]

Though our parents leave us outwardly, they are always with us in an inner sense. Our body is made through the force of heredity they have transmitted and our mind and personality shaped to an extent by their influence. How can one free oneself from the attachment to work and yet have the confidence and certitude that whatever one is one is called for will come true someday? As one often keeps generating so-called (mental) ideasโ€ฆ but many ร  times they land nowhere. ๐Ÿคฒโš–๏ธ

Attachment to works is because of the results we want or expect from it. The result may be gross such as money or subtle such as recognition. Either ways it binds and deflects us from the true purpose of works which is, first, to grow and evolve towards the Divine. Secondly, when one has grown into the Divine then its purpose is to fulfil the Divine Will upon earth. Individually it means becoming a channel and instrument of the Divine….
