At the same time, my coworker is naturally very good at speaking and presenting ideas. So when I try to say, “I worked on this part” or explain my contribution, it starts feeling arrogant to me.
Is it okay if I don’t promote my work, even when I feel that someone — not intentionally — is getting the credit for it in front of seniors or the boss? Sometimes I feel that maybe it is fine, because Lord and Mother know the truth.
It is best to leave the result in the hands of the Divine. Self-promotion is a bad policy in the long run. It feeds vanity and arrogance while dropping the actual ability to work well. Work should not be a performance but the joy of expressing one’s inner truth. It should flow naturally from within. And if we do it in this state, with this attitude of doing it well regardless of other’s noticing it or not, then paradoxically we actually do it best. And when one does the work not because of what one expects out of it, but as a joyous flow of the energies within, then we end up doing it best. Then, sooner or later, the world takes notice, even though we are not doing it for any recognition or praise. On the other hand, when we do it to get praise and appreciation from others or to satisfy some vanity or ambition, then the whole energy goes into keeping up the appearances while deflecting the real purpose of work, which is to help us grow conscious and become masters of our inner movements until work becomes a means for manifesting the Divine Will in and through us. 🌼
Affectionately,
Alok Da
