AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Alok Da, recent challenges have stirred up old reactive habits, but they brought a vital realization: both pleasure and pain merely signal perceived lack, trapping us in a web of personal preference. While I recognize awareness itself is untouched by these changing contents, I still catch myself preferring even “spiritual” ideals, which only perpetuates insistence and recoil.🧘⚖️🙏[…]

True faith seems to require surrendering even this pious grasping, letting go of personal preferences so the Divine Author can take over what was always our untouched, default nature. What are your thoughts on this?

Does this capture the philosophical depth and personal tone you wanted, or would you prefer to emphasize the witness state even more?

Inner detachment, stepping back and witnessing the field of nature and all that is taking place there, including the reactions of pleasure and pain that arise in contact with various forces, above all, the practice of inner equanimity, are all extremely helpful psychological processes to lay the foundation for the Yoga. Nishkama Karma and inner Remembrance of the Divine is the next important step. Offering of all your acts, thoughts, feelings to the Divine and consecration, surrender, are the penultimate means for the Yoga.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
