Sri Aurobindo mentions telegraph in particular in the life divine and in bengali writings he says that man had to let go of his telepathic abilities to develop his intelligence which he should regain again. My question is , is there any breakthrough yet to happen be it technical or even psychological capacity within man that’s gonna be a sign of the new creation and change the face of the planet and man’s life as much as the previous ones did? For example ,Some AI optimists and utopians think it’s gonna relieve men of necessity of having to work for mere survival and subsistence and give them free time to choose their calling
To start with, if we take the standpoint that nothing happens without a cause then we must look for the hidden drivers of man’s material evolution or progress. It is, if we peep just a little below the surfaces, the quest for knowledge, the thirst for love, the urge for progress, the need for security and happiness, the push towards Truth and Permanence and freedom. We are as if programed to progress and consciously evolve. So what will be the signs that something new is about to come. A new aspiration and faith in our greater destiny, a breakthrough beyond Reason and the growth of Intuition, development of new faculties of cognition, revelation and inspiration for example, the emergence of a deeper love that seeks new forms of expression, the seizing of the mind by a new imagination for a New World, child prodigies with much higher average intelligence levels, a sudden increase in those seeking a higher spiritual life, not of the traditional monastic order but here and now and in everyday life, the cry for Unity, Equality, Brotherhood that seeks its answer beyond the narrow religions and limited ideologies, a need to consciously evolve and so on and so forth. These changes can be seen in the few right now and they do not catch attention or make headlines. Yet are they the harbingers of the future. From the scientific point of view the next major breakthroughs will be teleportation, thought controlled machines, the discovery of other dimensions. Politically it is the shift of power from Europe to Asia. There are many other things in the offing but these are good enough as starters.
