Thank you once again for your guidance and inspiration.
That is exactly what I am trying to tell you. If we take every verse of the Srimadabhagawatam as if it is originally said and hence to be practiced and followed literally, then we fall into the same trap as the Mullahs. Each Scripture has seen additions made by unscrupulous minds for vested personal interests. Srimadabhagawatam is no exception. Do you really believe that after all the beautiful uplifting things spoken of in the Srimadabhagawatam, the great Vedavyasa will advise people to donate it on a golden throne and get moksha? It means the super rich have a free pass regardless of their deeds! This verse, in fact the whole of the last chapter of the last Canto, is clearly an addition engineered by some ingenious mind with vested interest. The Srimadabhagawatam finishes beautifully with Canto Twelve, Chapter Twelve. We see the same problem with the Uttarkand in the Ramayana. These verses, including the one you mention about the golden throne donation, seem to be clearly of that character. That is why the Shastras say that we should accept the Vedas as final authority and if we find something that is not in tune with the Vedas, then it should be rejected.
Of course, one can always say that the golden throne means to arrive at spiritual royalty and donation means not just the book but its essence. So the meaning can be derived as this: that one who is full of a Sattwic nature (golden throne) and then distributes the Prasad of Bhagawatam to the seekers without asking for anything (donating the Bhagawat) crosses the mortal sphere and arrives at perfect freedom.
You can take this meaning.
Affectionately,
Alok da
