AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Because as soon as I started reading The Garud Puran, the way it describes the hell, and how Yamadoots take souls thru the hell, I could not read anymore, because that is not the way my understanding has formed after my other readings. Yes, we have to resolve our Karmas, but the way Garud Puran describes it, I was not sure those Souls will learn anything from it, may be they will learn that what I did was wrong, and I should not do it again. But that is not resolving Karma, the wronged sides totally left out. But then again, I did not read further as I didn’t agree with it, may be it mentions the wronged side later on🤨.

Puranas are not considered as supreme authorities. They belong to the class of Scriptures called Smriti. The authentic scriptures are the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita. They are regarded as Shruti. My own impression of Garuda purana is that it was possibly written with the idea of instilling fear in the minds of people, possibly under Christian and Islamic influence, to prevent them from going astray. But as you rightly surmise these things hardly help.

As to the Katha Upanishad, it is a Shruti so carries its own authority.  Its theme is the discovery of the secret of immortality and death is only a means and occasion to reveal the secret.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

We all have a role to fulfil, a work to accomplish, a place which we alone can occupy….

It is said that if your will is not at work, then its Divine’s will is at work. So how can we know what the Divine’s will is? What changes should we make within to align with the Divine’s will? How to deal with chaotic situations and people? What is the difference between the Divine’s will and others’ will? 🙄🙏🏻🪷🌄

This is not true (that if our will is not working then it is the Divine Will). Its logical conclusion will be that if you succeeded then it is a personal will and if we fail it is the Divine Will! No, not at all. The Divine Will cannot be judged by the apparent outer results. For example the Divine may want you to go through temporary failures or ….

Iran-US tensions are causing a lot of oil shortages around the world, including in India. All peace talks are failing, and the possibility of a breakthrough seems to be thin, as both sides are unyielding, causing a deadlock. Won’t this oil shortage cause a long-term dent in the Indian economy, dear Alok Da? 🛢️🤔🗺️💥

In the short term it may create certain difficulties but in the long run it will push mankind to find alternate energy, clean and healthy energy which, if we rightly pursue, can completely alter the economic balance and shift the …
