AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Brother, Vande Mataram Brother, I constantly hear that one should ‘open up’ towards the Mother… but I am unable to grasp what this ‘opening up’ actually means. How does one open up? What steps should be taken to achieve this? Please offer me some guidance.🪷☀️👐🌍

To open to the Mother means to remember Her, to think of Her, pray to Her. It means not to hide anything from Her, to love Her and surrender yourself and all you do at Her Feet. It means that regardless of what you may be doing dedicate your actions to Her with the idea and thought that you are doing this for Her, in Her service. It also means the urge to know about Her and what She wants from us. This implies reading Her books to gather the right knowledge, the true understanding needed to do Her Work and live according to Her Will.

So you see opening to the Mother is a whole program of orienting one’s life around Her, starting with calling Her Name inwardly as a minimum to giving oneself completely to Her and Her Work as the culmination. To love Her, think of Her, live for Her, depend upon Her for everything, surrender oneself to Her is to open to Her.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

What was Mother’s view of classical music? I mean, were there composers that she believed could really be uplifting spiritually? I am interested, as it was around the turn of the 20th  century, in her young age and youth, that a coarser movement in music came to evolve. 🎶🎼😊🙏🏻🪷[…]

If we go through the writings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother we shall see that they had a great regard for classical music. The Mother especially appreciated Beethoven and to an extent Mozart. She appreciated the music…
