The most powerful method is to see the Divine in and behind everything. The first step towards that is to cultivate equanimity and wideness. It is to see the larger picture, like the background sky behind everything. While one has to respond to the outer event in a manner that is appropriate to the situation, one should always keep in mind that behind all things, within every creature, there is the Divine Presence that is carrying us all. There is the surface play behind which there goes on, in the background, the complex play of energies and forces that use forms and are not destroyed by the death of the form. And behind it all is the Divine Presence in everything. When we thus contemplate the Divine Presence in everything, then we begin to grow in Peace, equanimity, strength and above all love and compassion towards all creatures. By turning to the Divine, we also receive the right Impulsion to act according to the Divine Will in a given moment rather than react according to the impact upon the senses.
