AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Connected with Sri Aurobindo and The Mother since childhood, your talks on Auromaa have been a profound anchor through the grief of losing both my parents. Now three months pregnant, my husband and I wish to prepare ourselves inwardly to nurture this child rightly, and I would be deeply grateful for your guidance on relevant books or talks. ๐Ÿคฐ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ[…]

Lastly, in seeking The Motherโ€™s blessings for this journey, is it preferable to post a physical letter to the Ashram, or simply write to Her in my personal diary?

There are quite a few talks on AuroMaa on pregnancy and the bringing up of children. One of them is instilling Sanskars or Values RH036. There are others too. The crux however is to create a happy and harmonious atmosphere, especially through the thoughts and feelings in the mother. The impact of the mother is greatest and hence her role is maximum. Her thoughts and feelings impact the baby in the womb. Similarly, the atmosphere around, especially uplifting music and mantra, has a beneficial effect upon the child. I will be happy to answer any specific queries you may have.ย

Writing letters to the Mother in the diary specifically for this purpose is enough. A picture of the Mother can be placed in the diary and it should be kept at a place near the Mother’s picture. It has the same effect as writing to the Ashram. It is ultimately an inner connect with her that has to be forged. Physical link is a means to develop the inner connection, but in itself it is not enough.ย

Affectionately,ย

There is no need to delve into knowledge of geo-politics? It is one profession among many. No one is expected to learn about every profession, isn’t it? What one must know is about the nation and the people where one lives, their roots, thought, attitudes, especially something about the culture, the deepest tendencies, the highest …

That is why Sri Aurobindo and The Mother speak of a higher and lower Perfection. The higher Perfection refers to the soul’s Perfection, the spiritual growth from a state of Ignorance to a state of Truth and Vastness. Dear Sir, why is that the ego anti-divine? Why does it is not naturally surrenders to the divine? Why is there division and a distance from the divine? Why does it have to die ultimately for the complete spiritualization? ๐Ÿชž๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Ego is neither Divine nor anti-Divine. It is a part of human nature whose purpose is to create the sense of individuality. Individuality is a necessary element in human evolution. Its purpose is to create the sense of freewill, within certain limits of course. Freewill in this context simply means that the individual must chose from a number of forces impacting upon the person. The choices may be aligned to our deeper truth, swabhava and swadharma, …
