AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Da, what’s your take on social emotional learning and sex education that is coming up as new domains of education for common children? 📚👦🏼🎒👧🏼🪷

We mental health professionals also use these domains to teach children with Autism and ADHD, the basic skills and management of anger, boredom, irritability and when puberty comes up, parents faces the difficulty to manage sexual issues and urges. Are we going on the right track while focusing on these parts to enhance so that children and their parents can work better? If not, what can be our approach?

Yes, these are new challenges that are coming up and need to be addressed. The question is when and how. Even while engaging with these subjects, it is important not to give too much importance, as an excessive curiosity may not be helpful either. It should be largely a clinical approach and mainly focused on the right understanding of a man-woman relationship in its totality. Sex is there but only as a subordinate, secondary element in the complexity of a man-woman relationship. Helpful effects of an unregulated sex on the emotions and the psyche should also be discussed. Simple ways and means to keep oneself gainfully occupied in a healthy way, especially through sports and creative activities, should be incorporated as part of the daily life. Finally, it is helpful to teach some simple meditation as well as to expose children to high and noble thoughts from different sources.

To sum it up, what children are suffering from is not just a lack of sex education or a misinformation; they are suffering much more due to the depravity of consciousness and the degrading influence of the general environment in which they live and breathe. They need to learn the good as well as the harmful effects of the company one keeps. Regular reading of inspiring stories, cultivating moderation and mastery over impulses, instilling the love to learn, exposure to beautiful poetry, art and music, especially developing the aesthetic sense, will all go a long way in teaching and training their mind towards healthy, beautiful movements.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I have been a devotee of Hanumanji from my childhood. Traditionally we believe that Hanumanji still stays in the earth. I am curious that in the present Avatar of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo, what is the role he is playing? Also, have you had any experiences with him? Thank you!

Hanuman ji is a wonderful god who grants bhakti and shakti to those engaged in the sewa of The Lord. That has been my experience with him.

In the Mahabharata itself there is a story of Hanuman ji teaching a lesson of humility to Bhimsen ji. He also protects the chariot of Arjuna against occult forces. In Kaliyuga he has manifested through some mystics, the most famous instance being of Neemkaroli baba. In the new cycle that has begun now, the old guardians and the…

Bhaiya, how did you deal with the whole Rakhi thing when your sister used to send you rakhis? I find this whole thing to be more of a formality: sending the rakhi, then repeatedly asking if I’ve tied it or not, asking for photos, etc. 📿👦🏻🏵️👧🏻[…]

As an adolescent I would react against all these customs and traditions, not because they are wrong but because, they are not needed to express the inner bond of love between a sister and brother.  Later, on taking up the Yoga my attachment with the family of birth…
