There is always a meaning, or rather a reflection of certain inner states. But it is difficult to find it out either by oneself or by the average psychiatrist. If one can find the meaning, it is good. But the medicines should not be discontinued.
(Follow-up Questions:)
I have been a devotee for my whole life (I always surrendered my problems and accomplishments to the Mother), trying to be spiritually enticed with the concept of liberation. Only recently have I tried to read/listen to what the Mother and Sri Aurobindo have written. I don’t understand Savitri or any other works of Sri Aurobindo at all. I have just read “The Mother”. I don’t know what sadhana really means. Is it meditating on the Mother every day? Is it surrender? Where am I going? What is the goal? I have deeply benefited from listening to your talks, but I still feel lost. In my personal, professional and spiritual life. I keep praying to the Mother to guide me and show me the way. I request you to please guide me on how to begin my journey as a sadhaka.
Sadhana means growing in the truth and consciousness of the Mother. This brings Peace and a growing delight, love and knowledge. Eventually, it leads to the change of consciousness and a progressive transformation. The main steps of the sadhana are the psychic realisation and the consequent psychic transformation leading to growth in love, devotion, surrender. Then there is spiritual transformation leading to peace, wideness, knowledge, power. The supramental transformation is the last part. But the fundamental basis is peace and equanimity. The core, however, is always a progressive aspiration, rejection, surrender, as you must have already read in The Mother. The most important qualities needed are sincerity and humility. These are the two most important safeguards.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
