AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Dada, here, “find your own partner and make your choices” do you mean a life partner? 🤝🧭

Yes, a life partner with whom you can walk your life together and share the journey. Unless you have decided to stay alone. Getting married late creates its own difficulties of right choice and childbirth, etc. The choice whether to get married or not needs to be made over one or maximum two years. It is anyways a blind date since none can really know about the other person unless one has spent at least some time together day and night. And even then, surprises are always there round the corner. On the other hand, quite unknown people sometimes bond very well as they grow together and discover each other. Above all, there is the factor of destiny. One cannot tie up too many things as the mind would want. What is important is to see if the core issues, the central aim and values are similar. The rest is, as with all of life, a perpetual discovery.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I am wondering if you have anything to say on the order of practice. And in the relation to quite detailed descriptions of processes, with a certain order and division, we may see this in Sri Aurobindo’s writing on the Sapta Chatusthaya, and in the Mother’s sometimes very simple quotes on simply remaining open to her. 📖🙏🏻[…]

The Saptachatustya described in the Records of Yoga is the program given to Sri Aurobindo as part of his personal sadhana.

Its general version applicable for every sadhaka has been described in The Synthesis of Yoga in the book on the yoga of self-perfection…

I understand that we should live in the present moment and remain open to the Divine Will. However, I find it difficult because I do not really enjoy the work I am presently doing. How can I remain peaceful, sincere, and open to the Divine while being fully present in a work that I do not enjoy? 🌱🙏🏻

The Gita gives us the complete answer to this problem.

First thing is to take up an activity that is in line with your swabhava, your innate temperament. If one does not know that then one should study oneself, one’s interests, tendencies, natural qualities and capacities and try to see how they can be best put to use in the work you are doing…
