AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Doing verily works in this world one should wish to live a hundred years๐Ÿ™ƒ. What does this mean?

It means what it means. Physically it means 100 years minimum literally since 100 years meant one has completed all the four ashramas of life and engaged in all the four purusharthas, seeing through all the four seasons of life. The figure also means fullness, implying thereby a full life, a complete life, physical, vital, intellectual spiritual.

It was the ancient Indian ideal of leading a full life while engaging with the challenges of life in the world. It is a powerful world affirming statement in the Isha Upanishad on which the greatness of the once mighty Indian civilization was built. It is so different from the modern world negating illusionism and world negating ascetic ideal that has led to the weakening and the consequent downfall of India.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Thank you, Alok da, for answering my question from yesterday on a passage of the Synthesis of Yoga. However, I would like to clarify one specific point based on the understanding I shared earlier. Let me take a hypothetical example. Suppose, for a particular individual, the Divine Intention/Will is that he should go through a life of considerable struggle. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŒผ[…]

This question is connected to my own sincerity. I find myself in situations where I have to compromise my sincerity and integrity and speak lies for the sake of maintaining my relationships with my friends. I canโ€™t break the relations. But it becomes very hard and extremely difficult for me to be in a situation that needs sincerity and integrity both for me and my friends. ๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿ˜ฅโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน๐Ÿซ‚[…]

Sincerity is a most rare and difficult quality to acquire. Besides it is in relation to the Divine that we must grow sincere. What you mean probably is honesty with regard to friends. If …
