AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I am considering a transfer because life here has felt mechanical and stuck. I do not feel much joy or ease. I do not want to blame the place, but I wonder whether its atmosphere or energy can affect us, or whether this is mainly my perception. 💼🧭🌱[…]

My workplace is only about one kilometre from home. A transfer would likely mean a much longer commute, and I have dear ones here who are very attached to me. Yet my heart still moves towards a change. How can I discern whether to seek a transfer?

It is not so much the place where you presently work but the inner shift within you that naturally seeks for a place that would be more in tune with the changes taking place within you. When we change within, we feel the urge to have an external environment more in tune and in harmony with the inner change.

However, it is equally true that there are very few places and environments that are in tune with an evolving human nature. Most places are simply variations and modifications of the old plan. Hence, while the need for the change is genuine and understandable, you should be clear about the place where you would feel the urge to shift. It is always good to personally explore the different options rather than go by advertisements, which are often very deceptive. It is also important to be clear as to what exactly you are looking for. The change works best when we are conscious of what we are seeking.

As to house, yes, close proximity to the work place is a big advantage. It allows more time for better things than traveling. But all this will be a later consideration. First and most important is to be clear and conscious of what exactly you are looking for rather than what you no more want or do. The most important thing is to be clear as to what your heart is actually seeking. Pray to the Mother. Let the clarity about the goal and the change grow and then make a conscious choice.

Affectionately,

Alok da

Hello sir. Since childhood, I have remained deprived of true love and real concern for me, even from my parents and siblings. Now, my married life has turned into a horrible situation. How to overcome such bitter experiences of life and become a true servant of the mother and Sri Aurobindo? 💗🌸🙏🏼

Take all this as a Grace. If you see closely the situations are actually serving the purpose of taking you closer and closer to your true destiny, the Divine. Those who are happy in the world as it is today are like souls in the kindergarten of life busy with toys and the basics. But when one is ready for the higher truth, then either one …

Namaste Sir. In one quote, the Mother has said: “Give up trying, give up the will to progress, give up the aspirations for realisation, give up everything and say to the lord in all sincerity, let thy will be done.” If we give up everything, what will make us to work and search for the divine? 🙏🏼🕊️✨

It is the penultimate stage of sadhana somewhat like Sri Krishna’s final injunction to Arjuna, sarvadharmanparityajya, to give up all Dharmas and take refuge in Him alone. Give up trying is not same as do not try. It means that one has tried, possibly tried hard but nothing much or at least decisive happened. It is then …

As you mentioned that instead of taking scriptures literally, one should understand their true essence, I have one final question in this regard: What is the true spiritual essence or underlying message behind the verse (12.13.13) that speaks of donating the Srimad Bhagavatam on a golden throne on Bhadrapada Purnima? 📖🪷🔍 […]

That is exactly what I am trying to tell you. If we take every verse of the Srimadabhagawatam as if it is originally said and hence to be practiced and followed literally then we fall into the same trap as the Mullahs. Each Scripture has seen additions made by unscrupulous minds for vested personal interests. Srimadabhagawatam is no exception. Do you really believe that after all the beautiful uplifting things spoken of in ..
