AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I am wondering if there is something in particular to be aware of in a work environment with all kinds of possibly negative vibrations. I work in a restaurant kitchen, and on top of the general stress, there can be some tense personal relations. 🍽️👨🏼‍🍳❤️‍🩹👥[…]

I can get quite silent before work when I wake up; I try to offer the day to the Mother before and after, and most recently to do Nama Japa during, but I find it is quite easy, especially toward the end of a long shift, to slip into bad movements. Especially for worry and anxiety, for instance about days with a lot of bookings to come forth, or to get frustrated with a small amount of free time.

Yes, it does happen due to the collective atmosphere in a public place. While doing Naam Japa and offering the day to the Divine Mother is the foundation, it would be helpful to take a bath once you return back. It is a simple way to wash away the vibrations that stick to the physical body and the nervous envelope, creating the agitation you mention. A bit of quiet meditation for a few minutes, calling inner peace, will fully fortify you.

You can keep a small little picture of The Mother in your pocket and, if possible, a little piece of camphor with you. Camphor absorbs a lot of negative energy and the Mother’s picture will protect you against the intrusions.

Sending you The Mother’s Love. 🌼

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I am always bit perplexed on the question whether one should even bother with them and be conscious of them and note them down or utterly not bother and be ignorant of them? What’s their place in practice of this yoga? I remember reading a little bit of the western psychological theory about dreams activating those contents which we were avoiding and should be doing consciously in our wakeful life, for example there was this case of a woman who was continuously dreaming of a woman who was a living a wandering adventurous life but she in her actual life was living a life of infantile dependence on her parents and not having the adventurous courage of launching herself into the uncertain challenges of life. How true is this observation?

Dreams are a large chunk of our life given the time we spend in dreaming. Hence a study of dreams, and eventually becoming conscious of them and mastering them is surely something gained and won back from the realms of the unconscious…
