I can’t say because I never believed in academic approach. I wrote extensively but never consulted books. Wrote through inspiration and reflection. This original thinking is so much needed now, but the entire academic approach has killed it in the West and is doing the same in India also. So reflect and write what you feel inspired to express by way of words. That will have some value of a new insight. What is the use of repeating and parroting others? However, as far as this verse goes, it was written to reconcile the many gods with the One Reality. That is to say, one can approach the One through any Name and form. It was not meant to convey that All religions are the same, as that is not a fact. Nor was it meant to convey that all approaches are the same. All that the phrase conveys is that it doesn’t matter what Name you give to the Truth, as long as you realise it with the help of this or that support of Name or this or that Godhead or Guru. The final goal is important and not the means you take to arrive.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
