AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I’m studying economics and decided to make it the major of my further studies. But! Today I noticed many limitations of the subject, it is advocated as a science but actually it is just a social science with some mathematical tools, and that doesn’t make it science. The great depression, US Real estate bubble, enron scandal… All these proved that the assumptions of economics about the FREE MARKETS like Prices are fixed through Demand and Supply (then why over or under prices?), There is always Rational behaviour (How can Rational behaviour give rise to a bubble?), these are nothing but fairy and fantasies.

All these things make the subject so impractical in the real world. Can there be some way that I can remain engaged with the subject despite of these limitations? What attitude should I have? There is no doubt that this subject interests me alot, I can study this for hours and hours, but these things always bother me.

All human subjects are limited because they have been studied by human beings through the lens of their ignorance. It is idle to suppose one can discover the truth of things as long as one remains oneself in ignorance. It is equally idle to suppose we can create a perfect society with imperfect human beings. Therefore one should engage in a double or a triple labour. Keep enlarging your consciousness spiritually and at the same time expand the limits of your Inquiry by reflecting on the real causes. For that one has to first go beyond these western theories and paradigms and delve into ancient wisdom and at the same time, think originally and awaken creative thinking and alternate ways of looking at the same thing. It requires going deeper into the real problems that goes beyond the textbooks as well as the usual rational analysis.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It is a beautiful aspiration. Nourish it by taking The Mother’s Name within you. Nurture it by regular study of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother’s Words. Do all you do in the spirit of nishkama karma and practice equanimity in the face of all outward disturbances. Offer all you do to the Divine Mother. That is the main thing required. The …

Dear Sir, Namaste. I had a dream in which I was sightseeing in Ayodhya. It was totally different from the real city in every aspect. There were very large temples and monuments, some of which I remember were statues of a horse, a peacock, and an open court of a king; these were stone structures as tall as the Eiffel Tower. 💭🤔🛕🦷🌄[…]

In life, when you come to a junction where you are aware and conscious of your inner self, conscious of the conflicts that happen between mind and vital, conscious of your psychic [at least a bit] and offer everything at HER feet [mostly] but feel conflicted between the outer system we are in and the inner call.. 👧🏼🏛️😟🙏🏻❤️‍🩹🌼[…]
