Is he referring to Sanskrit as a dead language? What does he mean?πŸ“œβœοΈπŸͺΆπŸ“š

Who is this author? Yes indirectly he seems to imply that Sanskrit is a dead language but the reason he gives is interesting. It is this that the English language is still evolving. It is not yet fixed into a final form and hence is still living in the sense that it is growing. Obviously if one takes this as a criteria then most languages would be considered dead. A language dies when it has no more persons left who speak, read or write it. By that criteria Sanskrit is not only living, it can never die because some of books written in Sanskrit, such as the Vedas, Upanishads, the Gita, Ramayana and the Mahabharata, Kalidasa are immortal works and hence they will continue to engage the greatest minds. Therefore even if a single person does not speak Sanskrit it will still be living in its classical literature.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
