I prayed to Mother about this, and twice in my dreams, I perceived a very dark vital force present in their home. Most of the family members are materialistic, but there is one son who is capable of understanding these matters. I had previously suggested that he recite the Hanuman Chalisa and chant the name of Ram; he did so for a while but then stopped. Just the other day, I shared my dream experiences with him and explained that the situation would be difficult to resolve without addressing this underlying issue.
We have many practitioners of Tantra-Mantra around; I told him that if he wanted a quick fix, he could opt for that, but for genuine improvement, he should practice devotion to Hanuman, and for a complete resolution, he should follow the path taught by my first Guru. Before sharing all this with him, I had surrendered the matter to Mother; I explained the whole situation to Her and prayed that the path to his spiritual life might open up.
He then came to my home to meditate on Gurudev. I prayed to Gurudev—”As a child of the Divine Mother, I pray to my first Guru to take him under Your refuge.”If viewed from the perspective of the highest state of Yoga and the completeness of surrender…So, Dada, is it right for me to do all this—to speak about someone else and pray to another [Guru] while Mother is present?
There is nothing wrong in telling about your previous Guru if you felt he would be the right person to guide and help. In general, however, it is best to avoid giving unasked help or advice. It often detracts one from the true purpose of sadhana, which is primarily growing one with the Divine, not only in soul but in nature as well. This is an extremely difficult task but also the ultimate solution to the problems of earthly life.
The impulse to help is understandable, but the best help comes as we ourselves grow towards the Divine. Then something naturally flows through us without the intermediary ego and desires that often make things more complicated. Humanity undergoes all kinds of problems, often because it has taken a wrong approach towards life. Correcting that is much more important otherwise we only exchange one problem for another.
Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong in giving an advice with goodwill and in good faith.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
