They have great oratory skills and in-depth knowledge, according to me. I am almost sure that they must have come across the teachings of Sri Aurobindo.
Sir, how come an advanced spiritual person, after reading Sri Aurobindo, can’t help being attracted towards it, whose ultimate goal is the Transformation of earthly life and the end of pain and suffering of the material life? Can any bigger spiritual goal than this exist?
Yes, that is true. However, the so-called learned people are among the most difficult to change. They are imprisoned in scriptural knowledge and the prison gets strengthened by the respect and adulation received by the common mind of man. Hence, they find it difficult to break free from the prison of their conceptions and seek something higher. Spiritual ego is always the most difficult of all to break free from.
Secondly, our flight is limited by the fuel of aspiration we put into it. Most are satisfied with personal Mukti, which is the last illusion to conquer.
Besides, before Sri Aurobindo, this goal of perfecting earthly life was tried and failed because, as Sri Aurobindo reminds us, it needed establishing of the Truth Consciousness upon earth as the new evolutionary principle. So it will be easier for mankind down the line to accept the New Ideal and follow it than with those who still find comfort in the past ways whose inadequacy in solving the problem of man and earthly life is evident.
Finally, of course there is Grace that knows which heart and mind are ready and which one is closed in groves of fixed formulas and rigid dogma.
In any case, when a new truth appears upon earth, it takes time for its acceptance, but once accepted by the spearheads of humanity, it doesn’t take much time for it to spread to the rest of the earth. It has been so with all previous manifestations of the Divine. It took a few centuries before it seeped into the mind of the race. The Supramental Truth is no doubt more complete but, for this very nature, much more thorough in its demand upon man. Hence, the time taken is understandable. The Mother reveals.
‘In the eternity of becoming each Avatar is only the announcer, the forerunner of a more perfect realisation.
And yet men have always the tendency to deify the Avatar of the past in opposition to the Avatar of the future.
Now again Sri Aurobindo has come announcing to the world the realisation of tomorrow; and again his message meets with the same opposition as of all those who preceded him.
But tomorrow will prove the truth of what he revealed and his work will be done.’
