Here is the full statement of The Mother written to one of the Captains in the Ashram Physical Education Department in response to his prayer.
‘Sweet Mother,
We aspire to work all together towards the goal that Thou hast proposed to us.
Grant us the rectitude, the courage, the perseverance and the goodwill necessary to accomplish this sublime task.
Kindle in us the flame which will burn out all resistance and make us fit to be Thy faithful servants.
My children,
We are united towards the same goal and for the same accomplishment—for a work unique and new, that the divine Grace has given us to accomplish. I hope that more and more you will understand the exceptional importance of this work and that you will sense in yourselves the sublime joy that the accomplishment will give you.
The divine force is with you—feel its presence more and more and be careful never to betray it.
Feel, wish, act, that you may be new beings for the realisation of a new world and for this my blessings shall always be with you.

Being faithful to the Divine means to live for the Divine and not for the satisfactions of the ego. So too betrayal means to live for the ego while claiming to belong to the Divine. It means to turn the Divine Forces that one receives for the Work, for the satisfactions and aggrandisations of the ego. It means to misuse the Divine Force for selfish, egoistic purposes, for the satisfactions of lusts and desires rather than in the service of the Divine. The classic example of this betrayal is Ravana, an archetype through which the seer-poet Valmiki reveals to us the tragic fate of someone who received so much from the Divine but misused it only for expanding the empire of his ego.’
