Beginning with WWI, we have seen the terror involving artillery, machine guns, airplanes, chemical warfare, collapse of massive structures, mass media telecasts, floods, civil wars, drone warfare, famines, partition horror, COVID lockdowns, and whatnot. Now there was this whole AI revolution that’s about to be unleashed and the fears of mass unemployment are being spread about.
Where was all of this going towards? There was this essay by Sri Aurobindo where he writes that nature today is stricken by mania of colossalism, colossal structures, colossal combinations, colossal heights & speeds. If that is so, What’s the endpoint of all this gonna be, at least in our lifetimes? Will there be any stable interlude periods, or will there be one massive revolution after the other?
What am I, as an individual with my own limited intelligence and strength gonna be in all of this? Should I consider my life to have some mission in all of this incomprehensible Chaos, or should I fear about being just another insignificant individual who will be just another victim in statistics, what people term as collateral damage?
Why should you worry or fear? If you believe that you are The Mother’s child, then where is the room for any anxiety or worry? Our intelligence may be and is limited but if we open ourselves and offer to the Divine then He supplements our limited intelligence and force with His and then there is nothing to fear or be worried at all.
The Mother explained this beautifully in one of Her messages of 1967.

About the New Year Message of 1967, you say that the choice is between truth or the abyss. The abyss seems to be gaping just in front, yet there is a confidence that it will be removed from the way.
The confidence is quite legitimate.
The message is only for those who are still asleep and quite satisfied with their sleep.

What is the meaning of “abyss” in your New Year’s Message or, put another way, what should a sadhak fear?
Right now there is a great tension. They have all taken positions as if to start war. It is the blind passion that men put into their international relations.
At the base of all there is fear, general distrust, and what they believe to be their “interests” (money, business)—a combination of these three things. When these three lowest passions of humanity are brought into play, that is what I call “the abyss”.
When someone has decided to consecrate his life to the seeking for the Divine, if he is sincere, that is to say, if the resolution is sincere and carried out sincerely, there is absolutely nothing to fear, because all that happens or will happen to him will lead him by the shortest way to this realisation.
That is the response of the Grace. People believe that the Grace means making everything smooth for all your life. It is not true.
The Grace works for the realisation of your aspiration and everything is arranged to gain the most prompt, the quickest realisation—so there is nothing to fear.
Fear comes with insincerity. If you want a comfortable life, agreeable circumstances, etc., you are putting conditions and restrictions, and then you can fear.
But it has no business in the sadhana!’

So replace fear with faith and all will be well. The drop is insignificant only so long as it does not know or refuses to be part of the ocean. So too our life is limited if we live for ego and desires. But by joining the Divine, it becomes limitless in wisdom and strength.
