AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sometimes we are asked to step back from everything, develop a witness consciousness to gain true knowledge. But other times we are told that knowledge by identity is the only means of gaining true knowledge. What is the primary objective of both methods and in what instances is one supposed to use them?🧘🪷🕯️📖

True knowledge is the knowledge of the truth of things and not of the appearances. By stepping back we identify with the truth of our being and, by extension, with the truth of others as well. Instead of meeting and knowing on the surface by outer senses and reacting on this basis one embraces all things through an inner identity with the Mother. And it is in this identity with the Divine Presence in each thing that one truly understands others including people, situations, circumstances. So they are not two methods but two steps of gaining knowledge. First is to step back from the surfaces of life and discern what is permanent and what is passing appearances. This opens an inner doors to knowledge if one aspires for it. This knowledge grows in degrees until it becomes knowledge in identity which is the final stage. It means shifting the centre of understanding from the outward to inner and from inner to the inmost.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Hello sir. Since childhood, I have remained deprived of true love and real concern for me, even from my parents and siblings. Now, my married life has turned into a horrible situation. How to overcome such bitter experiences of life and become a true servant of the mother and Sri Aurobindo? 💗🌸🙏🏼

Take all this as a Grace. If you see closely the situations are actually serving the purpose of taking you closer and closer to your true destiny, the Divine. Those who are happy in the world as it is today are like souls in the kindergarten of life busy with toys and the basics. But when one is ready for the higher truth, then either one …

Namaste Sir. In one quote, the Mother has said: “Give up trying, give up the will to progress, give up the aspirations for realisation, give up everything and say to the lord in all sincerity, let thy will be done.” If we give up everything, what will make us to work and search for the divine? 🙏🏼🕊️✨

It is the penultimate stage of sadhana somewhat like Sri Krishna’s final injunction to Arjuna, sarvadharmanparityajya, to give up all Dharmas and take refuge in Him alone. Give up trying is not same as do not try. It means that one has tried, possibly tried hard but nothing much or at least decisive happened. It is then …

As you mentioned that instead of taking scriptures literally, one should understand their true essence, I have one final question in this regard: What is the true spiritual essence or underlying message behind the verse (12.13.13) that speaks of donating the Srimad Bhagavatam on a golden throne on Bhadrapada Purnima? 📖🪷🔍 […]

That is exactly what I am trying to tell you. If we take every verse of the Srimadabhagawatam as if it is originally said and hence to be practiced and followed literally then we fall into the same trap as the Mullahs. Each Scripture has seen additions made by unscrupulous minds for vested personal interests. Srimadabhagawatam is no exception. Do you really believe that after all the beautiful uplifting things spoken of in ..
