The psychic being is at first just a little spark of the Divine Fire. In itself, it is free from ignorance, but just as a spark, though of the same essential potential as a Fire, cannot ignite a wet log of wood, so too it is covered with the lower nature, which does not allow its divine potential to manifest. To do that, the fire must secretly grow within and the nature must also undergo a certain change till it is ready to express its full divine possibility. This growth of the psychic spark into a psychic flame takes place through lives. The psychic essence is immortal and hence its spark grows through all the experiences of life that the lower nature provides. When it is fully developed, it is called as the psychic being. Now no more a spark but a flame it can ignite the logs of wood that nature provides, converting its ignorance into terms of knowledge and power (light and heat) and thereby expressing its divine possibility fully. Yoga hastens the growth of the psychic essence by connecting the developing spark with the original Divine Fire (Divine Energy). As long as the spark is buried inside the field of ignorance, it cannot manifest its knowledge, which is held back. So the ignorance is not in the soul but in the field of Nature in which it is operating. It is like a prince who, as a baby, is managed by ignorant ministers. It is only when he grows fully and reclaims his kingdom that things start falling in line with its truth.Β
