AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the significance of cymbal sounds being played thrice at begining of meditation on special days like today; and ending with four? Any significance to the number of times they are played and how did this originate at the Ashram?๐Ÿชท๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿ”‰

There is nothing that is documented or mentioned anywhere. But cymbals are known for creating a positive spiritual atmosphere and driving away negative energies. In the regular collective meditation around the Samadhi it is the small ghanti that is used. The playground meditation starts straight away with music at the fixed time. Not sure if there is a conscious deliberate reason behind it other than it being used in all sacred spiritual traditions.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
