AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is self if everything is Divine? Why is there rigidity in the self and can we overcome it? 😊🙏🏻🪷❤️‍🔥

There is the one Divine Self that takes many forms, aspects, becomes a multitude of persons and personalities just as each body has countless cells, tissues, organs. So too each one of us is part of the One Self. Knowing this helps us get connected to the larger truth of our individual existence. It heals division and brings the spirit of harmony, true order and unity. At the same time we must know our own individual place in this totality, the purpose for which we are made. We must be faithful to that, true to this purpose of our individual existence. However we must always know that we are not separate or alone but part of an interconnected cosmic Whole.

Rigidity comes when the individual takes a hardened stance and believes everything and everybody must work in the same way. Or if others should serve our interest primarily. It would be a disaster if one group of cells became the centre to eat up all the resources meant for the total body or if the heart cells and the brain cells worked the same way.

So too each of us must do the work given to us faithfully but let each one do it the way they think is the best. To correct or change others is not our responsibility but the Divine’s. Similarly each has their own function, place and way of doing things. We should not interfere with that unless we have been given the responsibility to oversee it.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The idea of dedicating every event and thought in our lives to the Divine is truly noble; it has deeply resonated with me. In fact, our scriptures and authoritative texts clearly articulate this very principle. However, I am unsure about what I should learn or how I should begin. 🔥📖🙏🏻[…]

The idea of living for the Divine, becoming an instrument of the Divine, must change into a living aspiration for the Divine. It is aspiration, the intense seeking in the heart which converts the idea and mental seeking into a real and a living force of realising it.

I have always had a low level of attachment to my physical existence. I “float” and experience most physical phenomena in a supervisory/vicarious way unless I am very intentionally grounding myself. Is there a name/word for this? 🧘🌿[…]

Dissociative episode is simply a term that explains nothing. There are other terms that equally do not help us. Some people simply have a poor connection with the physical body because the bridges and the subtle links between their subtle body and the physical is not completely built. Hence they are sometimes susceptible to ..
