When an alcoholic person in a family is there then what is the solution? ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคฎ

Actually my next elder brother is an alcoholic before his marriage. After marriage also he is continuing his alcohol not daily but oftenly. But this one day he damages so many things in the family like slangs, arguments, quarrels what ever to the extreme he does all those. We are four brothers my two elder brother got married we two younger brother not yet, also I am preparing for competitive exams. My two elder brothers are doing business hardware store, tent house. Father was a govt.servant & already retired.

In these situation there also a thing come to my mind that my future is what in this type of family disturbance. The alcoholic brother does not caring about money… & By seeing him, My most elder bhabi also doing  some money disturbances like buying gold for her daughter, buying some furniture utensils etc etc.We have not yet parted, as we both younger brother not yet married. Are there any solution?  as we have already tried to convience him/ counselling him emotionally, with good manner ..but nothing work upon him. He simply says yes u all are saying for my good, only because of me u all are suffering a lot..I will not drink alcohol. I promise this is the last…. But after 20-30 days then he repeats all these activities again & again…& We have already tired by seeing these situations…What to do to solve this problem?

I understand your problem but there are no easy solutions to Alcohol because most often the person himself does not want to quit it. The first step is to educate and prepare him to accept the process of detoxification. It is a very painstaking long drawn battle. If he is willing then any good psychiatrist or a detox centre can be consulted.

But I would suggest that you do not focus in that direction. Instead focus on your studies, work and inner and outer progress. Each one is first and foremost responsible for oneself unless one is responsible for the other person. As to Alcohol dependence, it is not easy to get out of it completely unless the person himself is very determined.

This is what I would suggest.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The Bhagawat Purana is written by a Rishi no less than the calibre of Vyasa. The entire Purana is profound in its depth, spiritual and occult understanding. To take it literally is to rob it of its real sense. The gopa and gopis are the divine souls who came down with Sri Krishna to open the path of bhakti, of utter abandonment and surrender to the Divine for man to follow…

I am wondering if you have anything to say on the order of practice. The Gita gives us the complete answer to this problem.ย

First thing is to take up an activity that is in line with your swabhava, your innate temperament. If one does not know that then one should study oneself, one’s interests, tendencies, natural qualities and capacities and try to see how they can be best put to use in the work you are doing…
