AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

When someone talks to themselves, who are they talking to😏? The mind is just mumbling in solitude, right? If someone prays, isn’t it the same action? The mind creates an image that religion has given, referring to it as God, and then it engages in a conversation with that image in its mind. Is there something different happening that is being overlooked?

There are many levels of the mind and there are things beyond the mind itself.  When we speak to ourselves we are speaking from one part of the mind to another.  It is a play of the ego. When we pray we are not speaking to our little self centred ego around our usual things but to That which is beyond the Mind. We can call it God or our own highest Self. The truth of God is based on real experience of those who searched for God, an experience that all can have if they follow the way shown by those who have gone before us. Religion is a different matter. It is a belief system even though it does help man at times to get onto the path leading to God.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Original question was asked in Hindi: जब कोई खुद से बात करता है तब वह किससे बात करता है? मन अकेले में ही बड़बड़ कर रहा होता है ना। अगर कोई प्रार्थना करता है जो यह वही एक ही क्रिया है ना? मन एक छवि बनाता है जो धर्म ने दिया है ईश्वर कहते हुए और वह उस छवि को मन में बनाकर मन ही मन बातचीत करता है।

या कुछ अलग भी होता है जो छुट रहा है ??

Alok Da, I have got attached to someone after a physical intimacy (kind of night stands – about 4-5) but he is not. how to handle it. Actually I thought I am in love with him…so I allowed all that to happen…else i happened to be someone who wouldn’t let anyone touch me. What should I do? I am afraid of conveying my feelings to him as I know he is not going to reciprocate. I am just always craving his proximity, which i know is my problem.. How can I be at peace?? I want to detach myself from those feelings i have towards him?

Administering medicine to my 1-year-old daughter is a challenge. She was underweight according to Australian standards and had a low appetite, so the doctor has suggested iron and multivitamin drops, which she absolutely despises. Initially, I would give them forcefully and we would both end up in tears. 👶🏻🩸😥🙏🏻🌼[…]

First with regard to the value of an action. It is not the action itself but the intent that matters most. Whatever you did was an act of love, with utmost goodwill for your child. That is all that is needed. I am sure this love and goodwill and your prayers all have gone into her improvement and not just the medicines…
