Happiness? Is it even a goal worth pursuing? Happiness is a given in life, from the pig rolling in mud to the monkey swinging on the trees and the animals mating and eating in the jungles. These are all varieties of happiness given to every creature. Man needs something greater and more than clicking photographs and wearing branded dresses or traveling in luxury cars. If this is what someone is seeking, then one is not yet human except for the human form. Mankind is characterised by the mind and reason. Humanity begins with the ability to think and speak. This power of thought is given to man to climb towards greater spiritual heights. Mankind begins with the insatiable urge to progress, to know more, to understand better and through it all to make his life better. If a human being is happy with food, sex and shelter, then he is still an animal with some instincts of a human. Well, if this is what one is looking for, then there is surely no dearth of possible happiness!
Humanity begins with the urge for progress, the aspiration to find the ultimate secret, the goal beyond the limited animal needs. Man carries in him the insatiable fire to exceed the last limits, to cross the last boundaries.
One has to choose between frolicking in the wilds or climbing to the heights. Both bring different kinds of happiness. One must know what one wants.
Affectionately,
Alok da
