You may read Sri Aurobindo’s essay titled ‘Burgeois and the Samurai’. The bourgeois is the comfort seeking average human being seeking the easy way. His life is centered around stock ideas and satisfaction of ambitions and desires.

Emotional maturity is very simply the ability to postpone one’s gratification. It means not to rush or speak and act under surge of emotions but to wait and delay until the urge has settled into a quiet place. The reason is that during the surge one believes that the felt emotion is as if the only truth. It colours and overrides everything…
Each one is responsible mainly for one’s own progress. What others do is their problem. We should mind only our own business.ย
